Varsity Village is the oldest neighbourhood in West Lethbridge. Developed around a village concept, its homes are centered around parks and small commercial centres. Like older communities on the Northside and Southside, homes come in a variety of styles and densities.
Amenities: There are three commercial developments in the community, with West Village Mall being the largest. The University of Lethbridge is the largest employer in the neighbourhood. Parkview Health Centre provides dental and vision care and a medical clinic is in West Village Mall.
There are six parks in Varsity Village providing, baseball, soccer, fishing, spray park, and disc golf facilities. Nicholas Sheran Park is the largest of all of them. In fact, it’s the second largest park in Lethbridge. The Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre has ice and swimming facilities.
There are several churches in Varsity Village, including Baptist, Catholic, Alliance, Pentecostal, and Christian Reformed.
Three buses service the neighbourhood, and it is within walking distance from the University of Lethbridge transit terminal. University Drive and Whoop Up Drive provide easy access for the community to other parts of the city.
Schools: Children of St. Martha and Nicholas Sheran Community are the only schools in the neighbourhood, but G.S. Lakie is virtually across the street, and the Westside high schools are a short walk from much of the neighbourhood.
