Upper Eastside is a well-established community in Lethbridge, with several homes over 100 years old. It is a small neighbourhood, but it contains a mixture of commercial, institutional, and single-family residential uses.
Amenities: Other than school playgrounds, Upper Eastside contains only one park: Civic Centre. It is also home to YMCA, City Hall, and the Fritz Sick Pool, and Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization.
A great variety of commercial amenities are available between Crowsnest Trail and 3 Avenue South and between Stafford Drive and Mayor Magrath Drive, including dining, shopping, and retail. The Upper Eastside is also within walking distance for Downtown.
Three busses service the neighbourhood, and it has great access to major roadways.
Churches: Churches in the neighbourhood include Salvation Army, Lethbridge Islamic Centre, Lethbridge First Baptist Church, King of Kings Fellowship, and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, as well as the LDS seminary building for high school students.
Schools: The Upper Eastside has more schools than any other neighbourhood in the city. Elementary schools include École St. Mary and Immanuel Christian; St. Francis Junior High is the only middle school; and Catholic Central, Lethbridge Collegiate Institute, and Victoria Park are the community’s high schools. The Serendipity Child Care private preschool is also in the neighbourhood, and École La Vérendrye is across the street from the neighbourhood.
