Sunridge is a relatively new Westside community situated at the south end of University Drive. Billed as Canada’s first entirely green neighbourhood, planners designed it to have a positive impact on the environment. It’s a mixed density neighbourhood, so whether you’re looking for a single family home or a condo, there should be something for you.
Amenities: Sunridge Corner is the only commercial development in the neighbourhood, but the community is within walking distance from retail opportunities in Mountain Heights and Varsity Village and a short drive away from West Village Mall.
Sunridge Park is the only park in the community, but it is a large park given the size of the community, and with connections to two green strips, wraps around the neighbourhood. There is a small artificial lake in Sunridge Park that has wetlands integrated into it, and walking trails circuite the lake.
One bus services Sunridge, but a second route is within walking distance. Because of its close proximity to University Drive, travelling to Whoop Up Drive and Crowsnest Trail is a snap. It’s also ideally situated near the future Chinook Trail, providing easy access to Lethbridge College and South Lethbridge via the third bridge once it’s built.
There are no churches in Sunridge, but the LDS and Lutheran churches are within walking distance, and a handful of others are a short drive away.
Schools: There are no schools in Sunridge, but one is planned for the Sunridge Corner development. St. Patrick Fine Arts Elementary and Gerald Probe Elementary are within walking distance; however, G.S. Lakie Middle School and the Westside High schools are only 5 minutes away by car. The University of Lethbridge is within walking distance for the adventurous, and it is one bus ride or a short drive for everyone else.
