Way back in my Internet marketing days I had the pleasure of meeting Elayne Whitfield-Parr, the owner of a thriving Virtual Assistance company in Ontario, Canada. Elayne, like me, is a wee bit addicted to all things stylish and beautiful, from clothes to home decor to fab websites! So when she shared her “front elevation makeover” on Facebook recently, I couldn’t wait to share with YOU.
I love the idea of changing your home’s curb appeal by changing the front door, not just because it’s a lot of visual impact for relatively little effort or investment, but because I really don’t like gardening. I’d rather re-paint a door than plant a shrub. But that’s just me. (For what it’s worth, I do think nice landscaping is critical to a home’s curb appeal, but that’s for another post.)
First impressions are everything when you’re trying to sell your home. Yet how often is the front door completely neglected in the staging process? Faded paint, grime, and squeaky hinges don’t exactly say “Welcome.” Think about it: most of the time, the very first thing buyers notice and also touch when looking at houses is the front door!
Take a look at what Elayne did with her front door below. A rather swank and dramatic makeover to her home’s front elevation, wouldn’t you say?
Door Number One says, “Come in if you feel like it. Or not. Meh.” Door Number Two says, “Welcome Home. I can’t wait to show you what’s inside! And I promise: it’s all class.”
I know which Door I’m choosing! Oh, and here’s the radically improved street view of Elayne’s home. Wow!
