It goes without saying that buying or selling a home can feel overwhelming, but particularly at the beginning when the big move is little more than an idea in your mind. When you call a REALTOR®, the hope is that he or she will help you take the first steps toward your goal. From there, a good real estate agent will create a constant momentum that gets you across the finish line, rain or shine. Momentum is what keeps the process moving forward, even if things go wrong.
Continuous forward motion toward a goal saves time, money and sanity. You can’t make good decisions when you feel stuck in the mud and you’ve lost sight of the goal. Maintaining momentum, however, can be a challenge. I always keep the following three keys in mind, to ensure we are making progress even when it feels like the odds are stacked against us!
- Integrity – If you stay true to yourself and to those invested in the outcome, you’ll sleep better at night and be able to push through times when you simply don’t feel like doing this anymore.
- Attitude – This flows from integrity. What you say matters. Where you focus your energy matters. Keep the small stuff in perspective, and remember why you are making this move: it’s for a future you need or want very badly!
- Action – Take some form of action every day. Your REALTOR® should be staying in touch and providing advice and feedback on a regular basis. No action = no progress!
