I’ve lived in Lethbridge for a looong time. Yet I continue to find these incredible real estate gems “hidden in plain sight” every now and then in my travels around the city. One thing is for sure: Lethbridge loves its bricks! I admit that I find some of the newer brick buildings in Lethbridge to be a bit … yawn-worthy. However, there are some historical buildings here that boast a kind of proud character that I are just plain awe-worthy.
How cool are these Lethbridge works of architecture?!
The first building (left) is the St. Basil Catholic Education Centre, located at 620 – 12 St. B North (between 13 St. and Stafford Drive). It has a quiet grandiosity that I found super compelling. I was not expecting to see something like this while driving around this humble, older part of town.
The second building (right) is located at the corner of 7 Ave. and 12 St. South and is the first Mormon church in Lethbridge. At some point, the Canadian Red Cross bought it and used the space. As of today, the building is being converted into condos. (I’m dying to see what they are going to look like inside!)
Real estate tip: this type of revitalization project is a vote of confidence in a neighborhood’s present and future real estate values. And this south section of older Lethbridge is definitely a location to watch!
Hat tip to @Kim_Siever and @benrowley78 for providing me the background information on the old Mormon church.
