Although it’s new compared to some North and South Lethbridge neighbourhoods, Indian Battle Heights is a mature community by Westside standards, with some houses being over 30 years old. Many of the houses are single-family, but there is a balanced supply of duplexes, condos, townhomes, and apartment buildings.
Amenities: The community is peppered with parks, six of which are connected via a trail system. At a total of nine, it has the largest number of any of Lethbridge’s neighbourhoods. Also Towaawa Park, the community’s largest, includes soccer and baseball facilities.
Commercial services are available throughout the community at several strip malls, and West Lethbridge Towne Centre and West Highlands Towne Centre are across the street from the neighbourhood. It’ll also be within walking distance from The Crossings, the largest Westside commercial development underway just west of the community.
The Lethbridge Fire Department has a fire hall in Indian Battle Heights. There are medical and dental services in the community, as well as in West Village Mall and West Lethbridge Towne Centre, which are within walking distance.
The LDS Church and the Well Community Church are the only two churches in the neighbourhood, but others on the Westside are within walking or driving distance.
Only one bus travels through the community, but three other routes are within walking distance. Indian Battle Heights is bordered by University Drive and Whoop Up Drive providing convenient access to the rest of the city and local highways.
Schools: The neighbourhood has two elementary schools—Mike Mountain Horse and Father Leonard Van Tighem—and G.S. Lakie Middle School is also within the community. The Westside High schools and the University of Lethbridge are all within easy walking distance.
