Last weekend I had the pleasure of personally congratulating a new friend, Cheryl Meheden, at the Grand Opening of her Lethbridge store, Urban Grocer. Yes, that funky purple and yellow building at 1016 9th Ave South is actually the old “Tin Tin” building in a brand, spanky new outfit, eclectic product lineup included. Neat!
Urban Grocer carries a little bit of everything, so you can swing by on your way home from a long day and quickly find just what you need to whip up a delicious meal. From fresh produce to organic meat and dairy to gluten free snacks and other staples (yes, salty delicious GF snacks are a staple), it’s all here. The beauty is that you don’t have drag yourself–and a tank-sized shopping cart–up and down aisle after painstaking aisle to find your fixings.
The layout of this quaint but oh-so urbane shop is superb, with everything literally at your fingertips. And the fresh, funky decor will make you feel right at home, as will the friendly, knowledgeable staff.
It’s what I call “curated shopping.” Heaven for someone who detests
wasting spending 2 hours in the grocery store.
Give Urban Grocer a try next time you’re in south Lethbridge. You may find yourself looking for an excuse to skip the big box grocery tour de force a little more often.
Bonus Shopping Tip: stock up on Dagoba organic chocolate bars when you’re there. They’ll change your life.
